How do we recommend the best Water softener System?

Analyze Your Water Quality & Usage
Delivering the best possible water starts with testing your water for a personalized solution. We have a team of specialists who assess your water quality and analyze common impurities, including water hardness, chlorine, iron, and other contaminants. Based on the results, we move forward with our next step.

Match the System to Your Specific Needs
After analyzing your water’s hardness levels and iron content, we assess your household’s daily water usage. A family of 6 definitely needs more water than a family of 3. We recommend a system with suitable resin capacity and regeneration cycle so you never run out of soft water and the system only regenerates when you need soft water. As a result, you don’t overpay or buy an underperforming unit.

Ensure Proper Sizing, Setup & Long-Term Performance
Our installation experts ensure proper sizing of your water softener. Correct sizing prevents salt bridging, which causes hard water, and averts short cycling, which wastes water and salt. Our professionals verify flow rate, program the control valve, and install bypass valves according to your consumption habits, so your system continues to run efficiently for 15–20 years without demanding extensive maintenance.

How hard is the water in Toronto?
Toronto’s tap water contains naturally occurring calcium and magnesium. It is generally considered moderately hard, with an average hardness level of around 90–120 mg/L (5–7 grains per gallon). Sourced from Lake Ontario, the water is treated at any one of the four municipal treatment planst:, the F.J. Horgan Plant, Humber Bay, Island Plant, or the R.C. Harris Plant. Despite the treatment, the hardness doesn’t completely go away.
As a result, many households experience scale buildup in kettles, coffee makers, and plumbing systems, along with issues like soap scum, dry skin, and dull, brittle hair even after showering.
To manage these effects and improve overall water quality, many residents choose to install water softening systems that replace the calcium and magnesium ions with sodium or potassium. As a result, the water becomes softer, which keeps your skin supple, hair shiny, and appliances and plumbing safe.

How Water Softening Systems Work?
Water softener systems operate through a process called ion exchange, which involves replacing calcium and magnesium ions in hard water with sodium ions. This is achieved by passing the water through a resin bed that contains tiny beads coated with sodium ions. Hard water passes through the resin bed. Next, the resin attracts the calcium and magnesium ions, replacing them with sodium ions. This process efficiently softens the water, removing the minerals that cause hardness.
The resin bed must be periodically regenerated to remove the accumulated calcium and magnesium ions and restore the sodium ions. Typically, this is done using a brine solution, which is flushed through the resin bed to remove the unwanted minerals and recharge the resin with fresh sodium ions.
At WaterMart, we offer high-efficiency home water softening systems that use advanced technology to provide the best possible results for your home. Our professional installation and support services ensure that your system is installed correctly and operates optimally.

Benefits of Installing a Water Softener System for the Home

Reduced Mineral Buildup in Pipes and Appliances
Hard water causes mineral buildup in pipes, as well as in appliances such as water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines, which can reduce their lifespan and increase energy consumption. A softener system removes these minerals, preventing buildup and reducing the need for maintenance.

Softer Skin and Hair
Hard water can cause skin to feel dry and itchy, while also making hair appear dull and brittle. A good water softener removes the minerals that cause these issues, resulting in softer skin and hair that is less prone to damage.

Brighter, Cleaner Laundry
Hard water can cause stains and discolouration on clothing, towels, and linens. A water softener filter removes these minerals, resulting in a brighter, cleaner laundry that lasts longer.

Spot-Free Dishes
Hard water can leave your dishes spotty and glasses cloudy, which not only ruins their shine but also makes them difficult to clean. Water softening treatment systems remove minerals that cause these spots, resulting in spot-free dishes and glasses.

Better-Tasting Water
Hard water can affect the taste of water, giving it a metallic or unpleasant flavour. A water softener removes the minerals that cause these issues, resulting in better-tasting water that is tastier and more refreshing.

Environmentally Friendly
Cloudy dishes and stained clothes are challenging to clean, requiring more water, soap and detergent. A home water softener can reduce the amount of soap and detergent needed for cleaning, as well as the amount of water needed for rinsing. This reduces the use of chemicals and water, making it an environmentally friendly choice.
